If you are wondering to what obscure reason, Canon has not yet thrown to the fish in the segment of mirrorless, then take a look at the PowerShot G1 X, the newest digital camera that takes her place just up the noblest of the family of compact manufacturer Japanese.

You will agree with me that there is no hurry to churn out a compact interchangeable lens when there is already in the catalog such a concentration of performance: it could not otherwise define a camera equipped with a 14 megapixel sensor is very similar (at least in size ) to that of the EOS SLR and a Digic processor 5. But above all able to bring to the table a sensitivity up to ISO 12800 and a system for recording movies in Full HD (1080p) at 24fps with stereo sound and optical zoom 4x.

Sure, there are not interchangeable, and this makes all the difference in the world, but with a lens capable of a range from 28 to 112 mm there is enough to meet the needs of the most experienced amateur photographer.

Especially when you consider that the new PowerShot G1 X incorporates an Optical Image Stabilizer (IS) with a 4-stop compensation, supported by technology (Intelligent IS) which analyzes the focal length, subject distance and the type of movement of the camera by applying consequently the most appropriate mode of stabilization. It means that if you're shooting with the technique of panning , the stabilizer will act in one direction to achieve a more artistic movement across the frame.

As for speed, while not impress, the new PowerShot G1 X comes with a respectable curriculum: six full-resolution shots at 4.5 frames or bursts of 1.9 fps in JPEG until memory card becomes full.

The new Canon PowerShot G1 X debuts on the market at 710 euros including VAT, a price which - coincidentally - is closer to that of a mirrorless than to that of a conventional compact.
